Cuban salsa outside of Cuba

What is the best substitution for Cuba?

In which city outside of Cuba is the Cuban salsa scene the best? In which city in Europe is the Cuban salsa scene the best? In which city in Latin America or the Caribbean is the Cuban salsa scene the best? Miami and Mardid or not?

  • Waw, nice long message Erik! Thanks for the info! Now I'll return the favor.

    Hi Valkana

Italy has a very high level of cuban salsa dancing (also according to José). This is because of the dancers that live there and it's a dancing country. Than Moscow , Munich , I don't know anything about Madrid. inform me !
Also in Poland there is good cuban dancing and Belgrade.
    About Amsterdam ore Netherlands
the more the dance schools work together the better it gets, I think I hope ;)
I would be good if students could 'hop' from one school to the other, because every instructor has its specialty and its good to feel the different approach.
for my self I visit dance schools in Amsterdam with Margarita Avila Pérez , (not existing any more in Amsterdam) José Luis Pelayo Herrera, and now Ernesto Betancourt Ramirez. and maybe some day Luis Mosito . The 'Dutch' cuban dance schools I have not visit for lessons .
Every teacher has his style, and it shows that cuban dance has more freedom in developing your own style .
Margarita has a very nice flow, very female and elegant and for me easy to pickup, there is a logic in the moves.
José is like a gentle men, almost serene and precise, very nice to dance with for the ladies , the best reports I hear from the girls ;)
Ernesto I just had one lesson so I cant describe jet, there are good student,  the level is high, and the energy is excellent so I look forward to dance there for the a while.
Luis is fun, a joker, joyful, and he is greet in organizing party's, thats also important for dancing, to practice
but its very personal, I could pickup every thing from Margarita but my best friend Martijn could not and liked José for this more. I like fun and a bit of chaos so you forget that there is teaching going on, others need structure and no rumor ore fuss
this is a beautiful thing of learning it needs to "click" between persons.

I good thing is now there are more young people dancing cuban

is there a list of cuban dance schools in Amsterdam ore in Holland on this site?

(mijn laatste dansschool)
